21 million U.S. adults are living with depression, while 3.7 million people ages 12 to 17 experience major depression and 2.5 million people ages 12 to 17 experience severe depression.

Over four times as many men as women die by suicide in the U.S.  Suicide rates increased by 36% between 2000 to 2021. Suicide accounted for 48,183 deaths in 2021, which is approximately one death every 11 minutes. An estimated 12.3 million adults in the U.S. seriously considered suicide in 2021, with 3.5 million planning a suicide attempt and 1.7 million attempting suicide.
